NORMAN — Oklahoma began spring practice Tuesday with heavy hearts as wide receiver Corey Wilson remains hospitalized in serious condition with a spinal cord injury.
"It’s a disappointing time and a hurtful time,” coach Bob Stoops said. "It’s a tragic accident. We’re all just praying for Corey and his family. "It’s a difficult time.” Wilson was critically injured last Friday during a two-car accident on Interstate 35 near Pauls Valley. Wilson, who was not wearing his seat belt according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers, was thrown 45 feet from his sport utility vehicle and flown to OU Medical Center in critical condition. His family released a brief statement Monday saying Wilson was alert and awake and that his condition had improved from critical to serious. Specifics of his condition have not been disclosed by the family or hospital officials.
