NORMAN—For the 33rd time in school history, Oklahoma is in the top five of The Associated Press preseason poll.
The Sooners are No. 4 in the poll, released Sunday afternoon.
Florida State received 57 of 60 first-place votes with No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Oregon and the Sooners each receiving a first-place vote.
Oklahoma’s 33 top-five nods in the preseason poll is more than any other team in college football.
The Big 12 has two other teams in the opening poll—No. 10 Baylor and No. 20 Kansas State.
The top 10 also includes Ohio State at No. 5, followed by Auburn, UCLA, Michigan State and South Carolina.
The SEC leads the way with eight ranked teams, while the Pac 12 has six teams in the initial top 25. The two teams that left the Big 12 for the SEC are both ranked. Texas A&M comes in at No. 21 and Missouri is No. 24.
The Sooners were No. 3 in the coaches poll, which was released last month.
Oklahoma opens the season Aug. 30 against Louisiana Tech.
