EDMOND — If this is what Justice Hansen looks like in his first varsity start, just imagine what the next three seasons hold.

Edmond Santa Fe's sophomore quarterback took full reins of the Wolves' offense, and the team routed rival Edmond Memorial 31-6 Friday at Wantland Stadium.

Hansen completed eight of 19 passes — with six drops — for 123 yards and a touchdown. He added 60 yards on the ground with a score.

“Justice is a beast,” said junior receiver Dale Jefferson. “The future holds big things for him.”

The sophomore has the size (6-foot-4, 195 pounds), the arm and the field presence of a budding star.

“There was a lot of emotion,” Hansen said of making his first varsity start. “I wasn't really nervous, but I was just anxious to get out here and get started.”

The Santa Fe offense was stagnant in the first quarter but was helped along by a couple of big special teams plays — and costly mistakes by Edmond Memorial.

On the Bulldogs' first possession, a shotgun snap sailed over quarterback Ry Huff's head and out of the back of the end zone for a safety.

After Santa Fe's opening drive stalled, a perfectly placed Matt Freeman punt gave the Bulldogs the ball on their own 2-yard line. Two plays later, Huff was sacked in the end zone for another safety.
