ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina State coach Buddy Pough was glad to see his team rebound last season. Now, he's seeking even more out of the Bulldogs.
South Carolina State had suffered the first losing season of Pough's 12 years at the school by going 5-6 in 2012. Last fall, the Bulldogs bounced back in a big way at 9-3 for a share of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title and an at-large bid to the NCAA Football Championship Playoffs.
Pough wants his club to take that next step forward this fall and break a three-decade long losing streak in the FCS playoffs.
The coach says he might just have the team to do that, too, with a strong defensive front and some playmakers in the backfield who can keep the chains moving.
