Southwest Airlines to start non-stop to San Diego

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Southwest Airlines is increasing air service from New Orleans with new non-stop service to San Diego, beginning April 8.

Southwest currently operates 46 flights from New Orleans. It is the largest airline in the New Orleans market with more than 42 percent of the market share at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

Airport officials said Monday the San Diego destination brings the number of non-stop destinations from New Orleans on all airlines that serve the area to 39.

Another new non-stop destination in 2014 for Southwest will include Atlanta beginning Jan. 7.
