Spike Lee: Ray Allen will wear ‘Jesus Shuttlesworth’ jersey

This NBA season, an AP report indicated that a few of the league's players planned to wear jerseys with nicknames on the backs for select games. The Miami Heat are one of those teams, and now, a photo of one of them has surfaced.

Filmmaker Spike Lee posted a photo of Ray Allen's "J. Shuttlesworth" jersey on his Instagram account. Allen is planning on paying homage to the character he played in Lee's 1998 basketball movie "He Got Game."

Since Allen's role in the film, the nickname has stuck. While Allen will probably educate a younger generation as to who "Jesus Shuttlesworth" actually is, he'll also open up endless possibilities of nicknames-on-jerseys around the league.
