It wasn’t the first time.

Long before he became a guard at Oklahoma State or even a high school star at Edmond Santa Fe, Muonelo was a husky kid trying to survive the sport he loved.

"I was a big kid,” he said. "I could still play basketball, but I was definitely overweight. My motivation to play basketball is what helped me lose weight in the first place.”

Muonelo went from pudgy to powerful.

Then after run-and-gun Travis Ford was hired last spring, Muonelo knew he needed to transform his body again. He adopted a strict diet — oatmeal and water for breakfast, Subway sandwich for lunch and home cooking for dinner — and spent six to eight hours a day in the gym.

His body is toned, his face thinned.

Muonelo has noticed the difference in his game and in his life.

"When you lose weight, when you get in shape ... you do feel good off the court,” he said. "When you look in the mirror, you kind of smile. You’re happy that you feel like this.”
