Sports media notebook: TNT's Heat-Thunder telecast earns Thunder's highest local rating of the season

The telecast got an 18.7 in Oklahoma City, surpassing the 16.4 for the Clippers-Thunder game Nov. 21 on TNT. Nationally, it delivered a 2.8 overnight rating to become the highest-rated NBA regular-season game on cable this season outside of the network's opening night coverage.

TNT's Heat-Thunder telecast Thursday night produced the Thunder's highest local rating of the season and one of TNT's highest national ratings this season.

The telecast got an 18.7 in Oklahoma City, surpassing the 16.4 for the Clippers-Thunder game Nov. 21 on TNT. In Miami, Fla., the game got a 10.9, the market's second-highest rating this season.

Nationally, it delivered a 2.8 overnight rating to become the highest-rated NBA regular-season game on cable this season outside of the network's opening night coverage. The season-opening Bulls-Heat telecast had a 4.3 overnight rating on TNT.

— KOCB-34 has an interesting Saturday Big 12 basketball doubleheader with both state teams. OSU hosts Texas Tech at 12:30 p.m. (Brad Sham, Bryndon Manzer and reporter Shelley Smith), and OU hosts Kansas State at 3 p.m. (Dave Armstrong and Darrin Horn).

Mike Joy will call the Daytona 500 on Sunday on Fox with analysts Darrell Waltrip and Larry McReynolds. Coverage begins at 11 a.m.
