SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Senior running back Damien Williams was Oklahoma's top running back last season, but has gotten off to a slower start in 2013.

He was suspended for the Sooners' home win over Tulsa two weeks ago, but returned to action against Notre Dame on Saturday, rushing for 42 yards on nine carries, which included an 11-yard touchdown early in the first quarter.

Williams spoke with The Oklahoman after OU beat the Irish 35-21 inside Notre Dame Stadium.

Q: A lot was made about you guys only rushing for 15 yards against this team last year. How different did today feel?

As a running back, (last year's performance) is disrespectful to me. We want to go out there and run the ball, so that's what we have to do.
