Spring color: What's your shade?

This spring and summer, colors are colliding as never before. From pastels to bolds and even neons, this season's fashion options are looking bright, several Oklahoma City area fashion experts say.

No matter the trends, some women will always prefer neutral-colored clothing, but a bit of color on a necklace or shoes can give style and spark to any outfit without screaming “trendy.”

And as popular and dramatic as black and white clothing combinations are this season, some women choose to finish the look with colorful accessories just because it's fun and maybe a little unexpected.

“Look around and you can tell it's a black and white season; however, there's still the continuation of neons along with the new faded brights in shades of coral and green,” said Jane Webb, owner of CK & Co. in Nichols Hills Plaza.

Walking into her store is like opening a big box of Crayons with color spilling out everywhere.

A new take on pastels is to wear two different hues together, such as mint jeans with a soft peach top.

And don't think colorful clothes must be paired with subtle makeup. The trend is either very nude or very extreme in makeup, said Alex Mendez-Kelley, owner of The MakeUp Bar. “I personally think you can mix both.”

Even with bright clothing, Mendez-Kelley said, she's a big fan of a pop of color on the face. “I like bright cream blush in hot pink.”
