COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley is turning to softball to help an effort for her INNERSOLE charity.
Staley will help host a celebrity game on July 19th between Gamecock coaches and celebrities. Those participating will include former Gamecock football standouts Alshon Jeffrey, Sheldon Brown, Corey Miller and Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers. Others who've agreed to play include Staley's boss in South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner, and women's basketball personalities Cynthia Cooper and Nell Fortner.
The money raised will go to the group's Educate My Sole Challenge that's an initiative for grade school students to attend school and stay engaged in classroom work.
