Fans of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” may have thought their last chance to see Capt. Picard on the big screen passed when Paramount rebooted the “Star Trek” franchise under director J.J. Abrams.
But next week, in celebration of the Blu-ray release of “Star Trek: The Next Generation” Season One and the 25th anniversary of the “Next Generation” program, Picard, Data, Worf and crew return to the silver screen as part of a special Fathom Events screening.
“Star Trek: The Next Generation 25th Anniversary Event” beams to movie theaters nationwide at 7 p.m. local time Monday.
The event is presented by NCM Fathom and CBS, and will feature two Season One episodes of “Star Trek: The Next Generation”: “Where No One Has Gone Before” and “Datalore.”
In Oklahoma City, the “Next Generation” episodes will be shown at AMC Quail Springs 24, 2501 W Memorial, and Tinseltown USA, 6001 N Martin Luther King Ave.
Tickets are available at participating theater box offices and www.FathomEvents.com.
The episodes were chosen by “Star Trek” experts and restoration consultants, Mike and Denise Okuda, who will introduce the episodes. The evening also will include a look at special features and a preview of the Season 2 Blu-ray.
“We're thrilled to be able to introduce ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation' to a new generation,” said Ken Ross, executive vice president and general manager of CBS Home Entertainment, in a news release. “Seeing the episodes in a theater setting is the perfect way to show off the pristine picture that high definition allows and launch the first season on Blu-ray.”
