Druggist’s hearing set
The preliminary hearing for a pharm-acist charged with first-degree murder is set for Nov. 4. Jerome Jay Ersland, 57, shown above, was charged after he fatally shot

Antwun "Speedy” Parker, 16, on May

19 at the Reliable Discount Pharmacy in Oklahoma City. The case attracted national attention when prosecutors released a video showing the

pharmacist shooting Parker in the head, chasing another robber out of the store, then shooting Parker five more times. Ersland, who lives in Chickasha, claims he acted in self-defense. Prosecutors allege he went too far. At the preliminary hearing, Oklahoma County Special Judge Greg Ryan will hear testimony and review evidence. The judge must decide whether the evidence is sufficient for a trial.
