Police arrest adult, 4 teens
Police arrested an 18-year-old and four juveniles in connection with about $7,000 worth of damage to Deer Creek Elementary School property after an officer spotted skateboarders in the gymnasium and cafeteria. Christian Paul Cox, 18, a 14-year-old boy and three 15-year-old boys were arrested on misdemeanor complaints of destruction of property and trespassing after the officer found them inside the school at 4704 NW 164, about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, according to police reports. Three banquet tables, a music riser and two speakers were damaged.

Boy found in pool dies
A 4-year-old boy died at a Tulsa hospital after being found floating in a neighbor’s swimming pool. Police say Keagen Coble died Sunday after being found in the pool Saturday night. Capt. John Bowman said the boy and his mother were visiting a relative when adults noticed the boy missing about 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The family found the child in the pool across the street. Bowman said paramedics revived the boy at the scene but he died later at St. Francis Hospital.

Educators name leader
A fourth-grade teacher in Shawnee is the new president of the Professional Oklahoma Educators. Members elected Esther Bell to the top position. Bell is a teacher at North Rock Creek School in Shawnee and has been teaching 14 years. Professional Educators Oklahoma is a nonunion organization that provides members with legal services, training, lobbying representation and other benefits.

Marsha Strunk, a high school English teacher, is vice president. Carol Cumbie, a Title I reading teacher, is treasurer. Brenda Asher, a kindergarten teacher, is secretary.

Enid tops list for hunting
Outdoor Life magazine has ranked Enid as one of the top towns for hunting and fishing. Enid was ranked 168 in the magazine’s second annual Top 200 Towns for Sportsmen. The list ranks the cities according to factors such as fishable and huntable species, and trophy potential.

Gym rebuild up for vote
Voters in the Fort Supply school district will vote on rebuilding the school gymnasium. A two-part school bond issue will be on an August ballot. Nearly $1.5 million will go toward school improvements, rebuilding the gym and updating the playground equipment. The gym was destroyed when the roof collapsed after a 20-plus inch snow storm in late March.
