Police look for escapee
BLACKWELL — Blackwell police are looking for a woman who escaped custody while assisting with a narcotics investigation Wednesday. Cynthia Campbell, 38, also known as Cynthia Coursey, escaped custody about 9:30 p.m. in the area of N B Street and E Florence Avenue in Blackwell, Deputy Police Chief Dewayne Wood said. She had been working with police doing controlled buys of narcotics and ran away before a purchase was completed, Wood said. Campbell did not escape with any drugs. She had been arrested on traffic-related warrants and had a drug possession case pending in Blaine County, he said. She is white, is 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 105 pounds and has blond hair and hazel eyes, police said. Anyone with information can call Blackwell police at (580) 363-5490. TWO BOATERS STILL MISSING
CHELSEA — Rogers County authorities say the boat of two people who are missing after a trip to Oologah Lake has been found — but there is still no sign of the couple. Sheriff Scott Walton says the small aluminum boat of Paul Jones was found Thursday morning in brush along the shore near Winganon Bridge. The 47-year-old Jones and 56-year-old Carol Ann Crosby were last seen Sunday when they launched the boat from a ramp.

CAVERNS OFFER LANTERN TOURS
FREEDOM — Alabaster Caverns State Park is accepting reservations for lantern tours each Saturday evening until Labor Day. The tours will take visitors by lantern light through the caverns. WRECK CLAIMS GEARY MAN
EL RENO — Hugh Cecil Evey, 57, of Geary died about 6:45 p.m. Thursday when he swerved to avoid a parked tractor-trailer on an Interstate 40 on-ramp and rolled his van, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. Evey was entering the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 in El Reno when he swerved. Evey’s van hit the median and rolled, troopers said. Evey was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the van, troopers said.

FOUR ARRESTED IN CATTLE THEFT
PRYOR — Four Vinita men were arrested in Craig County in connection with the theft of 32 head of cattle two months ago. Sheriff Jimmy Sooter said the cattle likely wandered off their property through a water gap and onto Ryan Jones’ family property. "He just decided to pull them up and sell them, with the help of three other guys,” Sooter said. Arrested were Jones, 22; Wesley Ryan Schrick, 22; Darnell Hooks, 43; and Kendrick Charles Jones, 21.

SUBMARINERS JOIN FESTIVAL
Four sailors assigned to the USS Oklahoma City submarine will be in the sub’s namesake city this week to help celebrate Oklahoma City Navy Week. The USS Oklahoma City recently returned from a six-month deployment in the Arabian Gulf. Oklahoma City Navy Week kicks off this weekend at the OKC Nationals Drag Boat Races on the Oklahoma River. Active service members will get free admission to the races Friday.

Mailings draw nearly 4 years
AMARILLO, Texas — The attorney for a New Mexico man who sent threatening letters with suspicious powder to dozens of banks and federal offices — including some in Oklahoma — said his client is going to prison for nearly four years. Richard Leon Goyette said he mailed the letters in October as part of "economic warfare.” He was sentenced to 3 years, 10 months on each of two counts Thursday to run concurrently.
