OKLAHOMA CITY
Rock song committee appointed
Six members have been named to the Oklahoma Official Rock Song Advisory Panel that will name Oklahoma's official rock ‘n' roll song.

Panel members are: Phil Bacharach, Oklahoma City; Ronnie Kaye, Oklahoma City; Lacey Lett, Oklahoma City; Steve Ripley, Tulsa; Ryan LaCroix, Norman; and Hugh Foley, Stillwater.

Song nominations may be made at www.oklahomarocksong.org through the end of July. For more information, call 522-0798.

Polling place locator online
A polling place locator has been added to the Oklahoma State Election Board's Web site, board Secretary Michael Clingman announced.

The locator will help voters verify the location of their precinct polling places for the state and county primary election July 29, he said.

The polling place locator is available at www.elections.state.ok.us.

VINITA
Grant-writing workshops set
Grant-writing workshops offered by the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department are being held in Vinita in July and in Okmulgee in August.

Each two-day workshop will provide information on foundation and government grants for nonprofit or government entities.

The Vinita class is July 22 and 23 at Summerside Vineyards and Winery. The Okmulgee class is Aug. 26 and 27 at the Okmulgee City Library.

Registration is $40.

LONE GROVE
Lawmaker's son arrested
A state legislator's 18-year-old son has been arrested on a second-degree burglary complaint, accused of breaking into a food distribution plant.

A police report says Gregory Travis Piatt was arrested early Thursday, accused of breaking into a company in Lone Grove run by his father, Majority Floor Leader Greg Piatt, R-Ardmore.

The younger Piatt was taken to the Carter County jail and his bond was set at $5,000.

The state representative told police that his son does not live with him or work for him.

PONCA CITY
Water accident possible at dam
Authorities on Friday night were investigating a possible drowning in the Arkansas River near Ponca City.

The possible drowning was south of Kaw Dam, but no details were immediately available.
