Central Oklahoma's fourth-quarter rally was quickly halted in the final minutes Saturday by No. 7 Missouri Western.

Trailing 31-7 in the fourth, the Bronchos rattled off 16 points before the Griffins delivered the final blows for a 45-23 victory in Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association action.

Michael Hill, Division II's leading rusher, scored on a 30-yard run with 1:08 remaining and just about one minute later Michael Jordan intercepted UCO quarterback Adrian Nelson's pass and returned it 42 yards for the touchdown.

UCO (1-4, 1-4 MIAA) started its comeback with a 4-yard touchdown run by Joshua Birmingham. Later, Nelson found Marquis Walker for an 8-yard TD.

Nelson completed 25 of 45 passes for 244 yards and Birmingham rushed for 80 yards and two TDs.

Hill finished with 143 yards on 22 carries for Missouri Western (5-0, 4-0).

NORTHEASTERN STATE CRUSHED

Northeastern State led for all of one minute, three seconds against No. 11 Northwest Missouri State. Quarterback Johnny Deaton connected with Jahmai Coleman with 8:35 remaining in the first for a 17-yard touchdown.

The Bearcats, though, rattled off 66 unanswered points for a 66-6 victory that kept the RiverHawks winless.

Northwest Missouri State offensive output reached 654 yards, while Northeastern State's reached just 271.
