State gets good news on W. Nile
Fewer cases and deaths reported

3A When it comes to West Nile cases in Oklahoma, it’s been a tale of two years. This year, reports of the virus are down with only nine confirmed cases and no deaths. That compares with 107 cases and eight deaths last year. State health officials say the weather likely can be thanked for the drop. In 2007, heavy rains and flooding in June and July, followed by a dry period, proved to be the right mix of weather ingredients for a bad West Nile virus season. This year, we experienced the heavy rainfall in August instead, health officials said.
