The high school boys state golf tournaments will be played Monday and Tuesday at five sites around the state, and if you’re looking for a chance to watch some talented young players, you’ve got plenty to choose from.
The Class 6A field is loaded with future Division I players, with two Oklahoma State signees and a future Sooner on the Edmond North roster alone.
In Class 4A, Weatherford junior Quade Cummins will be back on Lake Hefner’s North course, where he shot 15 under par a year ago to win the title.
And these days, you can’t talk about high school golf in Oklahoma without discussing Hobart’s Brad Dalke.
Now a sophomore, Dalke has been verbally committed to Oklahoma since he was 12 years old, at which time he had already emerged as one of the top junior players in the country for his age.
Four years later, you can drop the “for his age” part.
Golfweek currently ranks him No. 4 in the nation among all junior golfers, and the top-ranked sophomore.
He recently finished third at the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in South Carolina, one of the premier junior tournaments in the country.
Though Dalke is only a sophomore, his days of high school golf are running short.
