Oklahoma needs to tackle texting at the wheel

Studies show 24 percent of 16-year-olds get a ticket or are involved in a crash during their first year on the road. Car accidents are the leading cause of death for teenagers. In 2005, I worked to improve Oklahoma ’s graduated driver license law. Within just one year of enacting that provision, we saw 444 fewer teen accidents compared with the previous year and nine fewer fatal wrecks.
