None of the five candidates for state Superintendent of Public Instruction said they support the Common Core standards during a candidate forum at Eisenhower International School on Monday, and they all agree that incumbent Republican candidate Janet Barresi needs to go.
“I see Barresi standing at the edge of the cliff and we’re standing at the edge beside her. It’s going to take all of us to push her off,” said Democratic candidate John Cox, superintendent of Peggs Public School in Cherokee County.
“This is for our kids. This is for public schools. Help me push her over the cliff,” Cox said.
