State writers receive awards
Books about the fall of founding father Aaron Burr, what cats want for Christmas and a fledgling teenage vampire won awards at the 18th annual Oklahoma Book Awards on Saturday at the Oklahoma Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
The awards reception and banquet attracted a crowd of about 200 that included authors, illustrators, publishers, librarians, book editors and designers, and people who simply love to read. The event was sponsored by the Oklahoma Center for the Book, part of the state Libraries Department and a state affiliate of the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. Norman historian, journalist and educator David Dary and the late University of Oklahoma faculty member, historian and author Danney Goble were honored with special awards.Related Articles
