Paseo Originals Art Gallery this week celebrates the opening of a new exhibition, “The Mind's Eye.” The exhibit features the creative visions of artists Jan Brieschke and Brett McDanel.

The exhibit opens with a reception from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the gallery, 2920 Paseo.

Norman artist McDanel, also known as “The Crazy Bird Man,” transforms found objects and bone into industrial Steampunk sculptures. According to a news release, McDanel envisions the pieces assembling in his mind's eye and attacks his hoard of jumbled parts with welding torch and grinder in hand. For “The Mind's Eye,” McDanel will showcase more than 20 new up-cycled works of fine art.

Brieschke, of Bartlesville, paints in a style she calls “fractured light,” with a goal of developing compositions that will “constantly offer new perspectives to those who live with them,” she said in a news release. For “The Mind's Eye,” Brieschke will debut a selection of watercolor and acrylic abstractions.

At 3 p.m. Saturday, the gallery will present an artist lecture featuring both artists.

From 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 19, the artists will be featured in an artist demonstration. A welding screen will allow attendees at the demonstration to safely view as McDanel recreates Brieschke's “Nest” painting in sculpture. Turnabout being fair play, Brieschke will paint her impression of some of the found parts that McDanel uses in his sculpting.

The exhibit will end Sept. 1 with a closing reception from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
