Steelcase promotes Jim Keane to role of COO

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — Office-furniture maker Steelcase Inc. said Tuesday that it named Jim Keane as its chief operating officer.
Keane joined Steelcase in 1997 and has served as president of the Steelcase Group since 2006. He previously was the Grand Rapids, Mich.-based company's chief financial officer and also has served as its head of research and development.

Before joining Steelcase, Keane was a consultant with McKinsey and Co. for five years. He also worked as an auditor for the public accounting firm Peat Marwick Mitchell and Co.
