Thunder rookie Steven Adams stepped up big time in Game 6 against the Clippers, so much that a teammate said the 20-year-old has Hall of Fame potential.

In the postgame, Reggie Jackson said Adams had a shot to end up in Springfield after “The Big Kiwi” logged 10 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 40 minutes in the Thunder’s 104-98 win on Thursday.

Whoa now, Reggie. Let’s pump the brakes. Adams did play 40 minutes for the first time in his career (and more than 30 minutes for the first time since November), and he finished with the highest plus-minus (+17) of any player in Game 6. Adams added a block and a steal for good measure.

But Adams’ games is still in its infant stages compared to those of the Hall of Fame-potential players he’s lining up with — Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. In the absence of Serge Ibaka to injury in the second half of Game 6, however, Adams (and frontcourt mate Nick Collison) were on their game.

Now, Adams just has to keep it up. Breaking into the starting lineup regularly would be a start.
