Cody Hawkins, QB, Colorado. Don't dismiss the Buffs' redshirt freshman when talking up the league's young quarterbacks. Hawkins was smooth directing Colorado's fourth-quarter rally past OU.

Big 12 North. Are we witnessing a shift in power? Too soon to tell. But those were beat downs by Colorado and Kansas State. Missouri, Kansas and Nebraska look good, too.

The Big 12 Conference. The league took a hit when its supposed best teams were toppled within hours of each other. While five Big 12 teams remain in the rankings, only OU is in the top 10. The rest are No. 17 and beyond.

The Red River Shootout. Annual showdown could have been in the national focus. Instead, the SEC (LSU-Florida, Kentucky-South Carolina) and Big Ten (Ohio State-Purdue) will fill the spotlight. The RRS isn't even the biggest game in the conference.
