Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops said he believes sophomore wide receiver Trey Metoyer is much more comfortable in the system and could be ready to begin reaching his tremendous potential in 2013.

Metoyer originally signed with OU in 2011, but academic issues forced him to spend that fall at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia. He arrived in the spring of 2012 and shined in the spring game, creating even greater expectations for the former five-star prospects freshman season.

He started OU's first four games in 2012, but fell out of the starting lineup and rarely played over the final stretch of the season, finishing with only 17 catches, 148 yards and one touchdown.

“I feel Trey definitely feels a lot more comfortable in what he needs to do, what we're asking him to do,” Stoops said. “I feel like he's exhibited more confidence in doing that. We believe he has a chance to have a really big year. Hopefully that will happen.”

The OU men's basketball team kicked off its second week of early practices Sunday night, going through a two-hour workout at Lloyd Noble Center.

“It's gone very well,” Sooners coach Lon Kruger said. “As you might expect, the enthusiasm level is high and the energy level is high.”
