NEW YORK (AP) — Thunderstorms are delaying flights and disrupting travel at the three major New York City area airports.

The FAA says storms moving through the area Friday evening are holding up some flights headed for Newark and La Guardia more than 4 hours.

Flights headed for Kennedy are delayed an average of 3 hours, 46 minutes.

The FAA says departures from Newark and La Guardia are delayed around 2 hours. Departures from Kennedy are delayed up to 90 minutes.

The agency says those delays are increasing as the storms continue to roll through the area throughout the evening.

A flash flood warning is in effect until 8:15 p.m. for all of New York City, until 8 p.m. for Northern New Jersey and 9:30 p.m. for Middlesex County, New Jersey.
