YUKON -- Spanish Cove Retirement Village of Yukon, in cooperation with Elderversity Lifelong Learning of Oklahoma City, is offering a four-week, non-credit course titled Storytelling.

The course begins July 9 at the Spanish Cove facility.

It will be taught by Elderversity instructor Mark Brennaman and is offered primarily to retired individuals, although the class is open to the public of all ages.

Brennaman specializes in adult education with an emphasis on health and wellness and holds a master’s degree in adult education from University of Central Oklahoma. Brennaman is also a part-time instructor at UCO teaching student success skills.

The storytelling class will include instruction on creating and delivering stories, storytelling games and will conclude with students telling their own stories

The class meets once a week for four weeks and will be offered two different times, Monday at 3 p.m. and again at 4 p.m.

"Storytelling is a great exercise in keeping one’s mind young, challenged and entertained," Brennaman said. "It’s the oldest form of education as family heritages were passed down from one generation to the next."
