CASARES, Spain (AP) — English golfer Paul Casey says he may not be able to play through to the weekend at the World Match Play Championship because of a rib injury.
Casey, who won the event in 2006, says his rib area "feels tender, it feels tight" as he readies to play for the first time since July.
He is scheduled to play Scott Strange at Finca Cortesin golf course to open the round-robin group stage Thursday, where each of the four group winners will advance to Saturday's semifinals.
It will be the first time the event is played outside of Wentworth, England, where it has been featured every year — except for 2008 when it was not played — since 1964.
