Strong winds, warmer temperatures today in Oklahoma

Strong southerly winds and warmer temperatures are expected to be the rule over Oklahoma today.

A cold front is likely to move through the state on Friday, bringing very strong northerly winds and falling temperatures, according to the National Weather Service. Weather conditions over the weekend should be dry, with high temperatures in the 50s and 60s, and lows in the 20s and 30s.

With mostly sunny skies, temperatures are expected to reach the 70s across the state today. Clouds are likely to roll in tonight, with lows from the 30s in the Panhandle to the low 50s in the southeast.

Partly cloudy conditions should remain through Saturday, with a slight chance of rain in eastern Oklahoma on Friday. Temperatures are expected to top out in the 50s and 60s on Friday.

Highs are expected to reach the 40s and 50s on Saturday and fall into the 20s and 30s Saturday night.

Oklahoma City-area forecast

• Today: Mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. Southerly winds 10 to 20 mph.

• Tonight: Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid-40s. Southerly winds 10 to 15 mph.

• Friday: Partly cloudy. Highs about 60. Northerly winds 15 to 25 mph.

• Friday night: Mostly clear. Lows in the mid-30s. Northwesterly winds 10 to 15 mph.
