OU quarterback Sam Bradford came into Saturday second in the nation in passing efficiency. But against Colorado, Bradford was hardly efficient.
He completed just 8 of 19 passes for 112 yards with two picks and a touchdown. Bradford's two costly interceptions came in the second half, including one that setup a CU touchdown. "I think I missed some throws today,” he said. Bradford also failed to connect with receiver Malcolm Kelly once. Kelly — OU's leading receiver last year — has just 17 receptions through five games. Colorado had Kelly double covered for much of the game, but so has every other defense OU has faced this year. The difference? In the past, OU offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson has called specific plays that get the ball in Kelly's hands. Saturday, either Wilson didn't call them, or Bradford checked off to other receivers. Either way, Bradford struggled without Kelly involved.
