Students chosen for Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain

Eighty Oklahoma City-area students have been accepted to the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain.

Eighty Oklahoma City-area students have been accepted or named as alternates to the Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute at Quartz Mountain, a prestigious arts academy held in June in southwest Oklahoma.

The metro-area students were among 270 selected through competitive statewide auditions from a pool of nearly 1,000 applicants. In conjunction with their acceptance, the students will receive full scholarships to the program, worth more than $2,500 each.

Leading the way was Classen High School of Advanced Studies, with 33 students accepted or named as alternates.

Accepted from Classen were Brittany Anderson and Irene Mann, ballet; Kasey Flinton, Ben Rhodes and Jack Sergent, choral music; An-Li Bogan, Kaylee Lockett and Evan Rathjen, creative writing; Dimana Bazrbashi and Abigail West, drawing/printmaking; Ivan Kohlman and Jackson McMeekin, film/video; Eden Bellieu, Madaya Eakins, Ali Hendrix and Kaylan Roach, modern dance; Meredith Dennis, Megan Dixon and Jaxon Self, orchestra; Landon Bahr and Iasiah Pickens, photography.

Named alternates from Classen were Joe Grotta, Hellen Smith, Billy Fallon, Lillian Hester, Claire Holloway, Michael Takahata, Katherine Ramont, Irandy Reyes, Doo-Yun Her, Rachel Leflore, Sara McKean and Elizabeth Myles.

Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School — Erin Noble, acting; Elizabeth Jantz, drawing/printmaking; Lexy Neira, modern dance; Christina Hochla and Ali Lane, alternates.
