OKTAHA — The Tulsa World reports that Levi Hill and Bryce Ayers, two Oktaha High School basketball players, were on their way to Checotah to eat Tuesday before their homecoming showdown against Porter when they saw smoke rising from the area below U.S. 69.
Four other Oktaha athletes — Kirk Washington, Logan Gragg, Zach Evans, and Brandon Nicholson — were traveling behind them.
Turns out, an elderly Missouri couple was traveling north, headed home, when the driver fell asleep and ramped off the highway, falling more than 30 feet, the boys said.
