Study up before adding dog
Earning more than $130 million, "Marley & Me” has been a box-office hit. But the American Kennel Club reminds moviegoers about the importance of making careful, educated decisions when considering getting a dog.
A cute puppy quickly can turn into a rambunctious 100 pound bundle of energy. To underscore this fact, the AKC and Twentieth Century Fox joined to produce print and broadcast public-service announcements reminding people to do their homework before buying a dog. All potential dog owners need to realize that dog ownership will be a 10-to-15-year commitment for the life of the dog. The AKC urges dog lovers to examine how a breed would fit into their environment and to consider all 161 breeds recognized by the AKC and choose the best fit. MCCLATCHY TRIBUNE INFORMATION SERVICES
