* Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, on the loss: “I wish it wouldn't have happened, but I'll definitely take the loss and definitely take the blame, because a lot of it is probably my fault.”

* Alabama receiver Kevin Norwood, immediately after McCarron's statement: “It's not just a one-man team. We all win and lose together. AJ can't put it all on himself. I can't let him do that.”

* Sophomore center Ty Darlington, one of Knight's best friends, on his performance: “I'm so freaking proud of that guy. He's been through so many ups and downs this year; so many people have doubted him when things didn't go his way in the beginning. He just kept preparing, kept fighting.”

* Sophomore linebacker Eric Striker: “Anyone who doubted us, they should bite their tongue. Tell 'em all to bite their tongue. Stephen A. (Smith), Skip Bayless, all of 'em.”
