From Friday morning’s Area Forecast Discussion of the National Weather Service, Norman Forecast Office:
Potential for severe weather will exist across the County Watch Area Saturday evening through early Sunday.
It still appears that any storms that are able to form near dryline very late Saturday afternoon/early evening across western Oklahoma will be high based with very large hail and damaging winds primary concerns.
Consensus of model guidance would suggest that storm development may become widespread late in the evening Saturday and grow upscale over the eastern half of Oklahoma through Sunday morning as very strong forcing moves out of the Southern Rockies.
Tornado potential will be highly dependent on how quickly atmosphere decouples Saturday evening. With moderate to strong boundary layer flow and continued moistening/lowering of lcls…it appears that there could be a small window of time with heightened concern. With that being said…there is no consistent signal in the data that would point to tornadoes being the primary concern during this event.
Redevelopment of severe storms Sunday afternoon/evening expected well east of Interstate-35…with a higher impact severe weather episode possible well south and east of our County Watch Area.
Large upper low will meander over Central portions of the country much of next week which will result in below average temperatures and predominantly dry conditions.
