Sunday’s game: New Orleans 12, RedHawks 8

Published: May 4, 2009
Oklahoma City closed its four-game series with New Orleans on Sunday with its third straight loss to the Zephyrs at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks blew a pair of three-run leads. New Orleans scored eight runs over the last three innings.

FELIZ DOES WELL
Oklahoma City’s bullpen wasted an exceptional start by Neftali Feliz, who went five innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs with seven strikeouts. Warner Madrigal struggled during his turn on the mound, giving up two runs that were charged to Feliz. Pedro Strop allowed four runs in the 10{+t}{+h} after the RedHawks tied the game 8-8.

HAWKS GET 11 HITS
The RedHawks had 11 hits. Joaquin Arias went 3-for-6 with two runs. Esteban German went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.

VALLEJO ADDED
The Texas Rangers have promoted infielder Jose Vallejo to Oklahoma City. Vallejo, who started the season in Double-A Frisco, is a defensive ace, having been named the organization’s Minor League Defender of the Year in 2008. The 22-year-old switch hitter is the No. 18 prospect in Texas’ organization. Vallejo had a single in his first Triple-A game Sunday.
