Sunny skies are ahead in central Oklahoma Tuesday with a high temperature near 87 degrees, the National Weather Service reports.

There is a slight chance for rain Wednesday afternoon and night.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Tuesday: Sunny with a high near 87. South, southeast wind 5 to 9 mph.

Tuesday night: Mostly clear with a low around 68. Southeast wind around 7 mph.

Wednesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Partly sunny with a high near 85. South, southeast wind 7 to 10 mph.

Wednesday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Partly cloudy with a low around 70. South, southeast wind 14 to 16 mph with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Thursday: Sunny with a high near 87. South wind 14 to 20 mph with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Thursday night: Mostly clear with a low around 70.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Mostly sunny with a high near 85.

Friday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy with a low around 54. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high near 65.
