"But the offense is totally different. I've got to get the offensive playbook down, and then I'll be able to contribute more.”
The starting running back job currently belongs to senior Raymond Demby, who had a solid spring as he returns from a knee injury that derailed a potential breakout junior season. But as Gatewood becomes more comfortable in the offense, he hopes to help out in the T-Wolves' run-heavy offense.
"Norman North has a really good offensive line,” Gatewood said. "That's something I'm really looking forward to. They take pride in their line.”
Gatewood's presence will be missed in the Millwood backfield.
"He's got so much talent,” Millwood offensive coordinator Kevin Cox said. "He might only be 175 pounds, but he runs like he's 205. He's just tough as nails. It's gonna hurt us not having him.”
