"He stopped playing for a time (when Petties was younger)," Del City's Jamelle Naff said. "Once he came back out, he was like a freak. He is just so fast. I'm happy for him."

Since the OU offer, interest has certainly picked up for Petties as three other schools have offered him.

One of the bigger questions has to do with what position he'll play in college. He's being recruited as an athlete while some schools see him as a safety and others see him at linebacker.

"To me, it doesn't really matter what position," Petties said. "I just want the chance to be able to show what I can do. I'll do it wherever they want me to."

Petties is going to get that opportunity as scouts will flock to Duncan games. The Demons, loaded with Division I-caliber talent, got a taste of it with all the attention of scouts and media during spring practices. Petties said the competition has inspired him to bring his game to that next level.

"It's been great, and it's real exciting," Petties said. "I'm just ready to see if there will be another school to show interest. We're going to do some things this year."
