Midwest City's Ronnie Davis has the talent to play quarterback for the Bombers. He's put the work in the film room to become a quality cornerback.

THE OKLAHOMAN'S SUPER 30: NO. 20

Name: Ronnie Davis

School: Midwest City

Height: 6-1

Weight: 170 pounds

Position: Defensive back

Offers: None but has attracted attention via performances at recruiting camps

So finally for Davis, he has options. It's not something he's had before. He stands out on film and stands out in person, but he's never had a chance for the numbers to back him up.

While other players in the Super 30 list have racked up eye-popping numbers, Davis' line is rather unassuming — 32 tackles and two interceptions.

But now that it's Davis' turn, the numbers will follow, and he comes in at No. 20 on The Oklahoman's list for the class of 2012.

“He's a good player to build around on both sides of the ball,” running back James Flanders said.

Flanders, a Tulsa commit, has no doubt this is going to be the breakout year for his teammate. Flanders said the first time he saw Davis play back in seventh grade, Flanders knew Davis was going to be something special.

The problem was the only position Davis knew before last season was quarterback. And with Greg Austin, a Southern Nazarene signee, manning that spot, Davis didn't have a choice. He had to find somewhere new.

“It was sort of frustrating at times, but it helped, too,” Davis said. “It helped me build my character and helped me learn about what being a team player is all about.”

This year, though, the Bombers are going to need Davis to be a little selfish. The biggest question isn't if Davis is going to play, but where?
