Super Tuesday's front-runners views on immigration vary little

Illegal immigration enforcement proponents licked their wounds Wednesday as the reality of an amnesty-friendly president emerged from Tuesday's primary and caucus elections.

The three who emerged as front-runners — Sen. John McCain of Arizona, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, and Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois — all have supported offering "a path to citizenship” for some of the nation's estimated 20 million undocumented immigrants.

Before Super Tuesday, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney was running a close second to McCain. Romney and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee have both been vocally supportive of increased enforcement and pledged to veto amnesty legislation.

"There are three people now likely to be the next president — they are all terrible on immigration,” said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, a Washington-based think-tank promoting stricter immigration standards and enforcement.
