You've heard about those groups that host college recruits and support men's teams.

Diamond Dolls?

Gridiron Gals?

They've got nothing on Texas A&M's Sugar Daddies.

Four years ago, a group of male students started going to softball games, and their rowdy, rambunctious spirit got the players' attention. A bond was formed, and the Sugar Daddies were born.

"There's groups for all the other sports, but softball didn't have one,” said Chris Sheppard, one of three Sugar Daddies who traveled to Oklahoma City this week. "This is our opportunity to say, ‘Hey, y'all are special. We care about all our athletics.'”

Initially, the Sugar Daddies adopted the players, wearing shirts with their numbers on the back.

Now, the players seek them out.

"When they first get here,” Cody Robertson said, "they know about the Sugar Daddies.”

As their name implies, these guys are out to have fun. Still, they are serious about their support of softball.

"It's just an awesome sport,” Jonathan Johnston said. "That's what got me going.”

Shepperd said, "I love softball, and I love being crazy and loud. This was like the perfect opportunity to come out and just cheer our girls on.”
