Police contacted authorities in Baltimore, who had entered Long's name into a national missing persons database.

Long was treated for a drug overdose at Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

He remained in the hospital's intensive care unit Monday and was being guarded by Oklahoma County sheriff's deputies, hospital officials and police authorities said.

“His medical condition has prevented us from conducting our interviews with him and completing our investigation,” Baltimore County police Cpl. Cathy Batton said.

Oklahoma City police investigators, after meeting last week with detectives from Baltimore County, obtained a search warrant and took fingernail and blood samples from Long in the hospital, court records show.

Batton declined to comment on the results of the samples.
