Authorities have made an arrest in the June 14 shooting death of 16-year-old Khaleeq Landon at a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex.
The teen was found dead about 9:45 p.m. at Windsor Village Apartments in the 4700 block of NW 24, police said.
U.S. Marshals arrested Deante Hawthorne, 20, about 4:30 p.m. Sunday in Ozark, Ala., Deputy U.S. Marshal Callen Stephens said.
“We developed information he was in Ozark and sent a lead to the task force in Montgomery,” Stephens said.
Witnesses told police they saw Hawthorne argue with the victim before shooting him and running away, according to an arrest affidavit filed in Oklahoma County District Court. He also was spotted with a black revolver on the day of the homicide.
Witnesses identified Hawthorne in a photo lineup and recognized a New York Yankees tattoo on the back of his neck, the affidavit states.
