Tahlequah man dies in one-car wreck

TAHLEQUAH — A Tahlequah man died in a one-car accident early this morning on a Cherokee County road, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

James Brent Berry, 54, died at the scene. The wreck occurred about 3:15 a.m. on County Road 540 southeast of Tahlequah, the patrol said.

Berry was eastbound on the gravel road when his car failed to negotiate a curve, struck an embankment and rolled onto its top, the patrol said.

Troopers said Berry was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.
