A former New Jersey substitute teacher who lost his job for handing a Bible to a student last fall has filed a wrongful termination complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, according to The Express-Times.

In the complaint, Walk Tutka alleges religious discrimination and retaliation by the school district when he was terminated from the approved district substitute list for the rest of the 2012-2013 school year, The Express-Times reports.

Tutka handed a middle school student a pocket-size Bible in October after the student hear him quote a Bible passage and asked him about it.
