CHECOTAH — A Tecumseh man drowned Monday at Lake Eufaula in McIntosh County, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Troopers said Timothy Mike Oren Bills Jr., 25, was fishing from a bank at Paradise Point about 9:30 a.m. Monday when the wind caused his boat to drift away from the shore. A friend told troopers Bills started swimming after the boat, went under the water and never resurfaced.
His body was found about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday about 150 yards from the shore. Troopers said he was not wearing a life vest.
