Environmental engineering firm TEEMCO soon will become a familiar name to football and basketball fans at Oklahoma’s three largest universities.
TEEMCO signed a five-year sponsorship agreement with Learfield Sports, which represents the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University and the University of Tulsa. The new partnership begins with the 2014-2015 season.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Reaching out to the university communities in Oklahoma is very important,” TEEMCO CEO Greg Lorson said. “This sponsorship will enable people to learn about the role of environmental engineering in the oil and gas industry.”
Oklahoma City-based TEEMCO has grown into the largest environmental engineering firm serving the nation’s oil and gas industry, with annual growth of at least 200 percent over the past three years. It has developed several proprietary software solutions for environmental compliance and risk management.
“Because of the high visibility of Oklahoma college sports in this state and across the nation, we think this is a great way to showcase some of the achievements in our industry,” Lorson said. “We hope this partnership will inspire more students to pursue energy-related degrees.”
TEEMCO’s multi-university agreement with Learfield Sports includes significant signage at football and basketball games.
TEEMCO also has committed to developing scholarship programs and internship opportunities for engineering and energy majors.
“More and more aspects of oil and gas operations are governed by environmental regulations,” Lorson said. “The industry needs a workforce equipped to deal with a changing culture, a culture of energy independence with environmental sustainability.”
